I remember having the free demo of Studio One for many years and whilst I liked it, I wasn't really in the market to buy a new daw. After almost 14 years in using almost Reason exclusively up to R7.02, I picked up Studio One 2 back in December last year.

I've been using music software as far back as the early 1990's such as Sound Tracker, Octamed Sound Studio, Bars & Pipes on the Amiga. I was wondering if the ones on offer with upgrades from 'Artist' are in fact the same ones. I have a 'Groove 3' subscription and am currently working my way through the videos there. I did have Komplete Ultimate crossgrade on order after buying an S61 Complete Kontrol but cancelled the order and returned the keyboard after getting stuffed around by the local retailer.Īgain the interest in a complete package.Įverything about my history screams out that this is the perfect solution to my current needs, but I am finding it just so damn hard to get my head around. I had never gotten into plus-ins until late last year when I got on board the IK Multimedia Group buy and got a lot of mastering plug-ins.

My history with music software goes back little more than 10 years, with Propellorhead 'Reason' being the first program I really got into, later adding 'Record' when it first came out.įor the last 5 or 6 years though I have pretty much exclusively used 'Live'.Īgain, and after purchasing 'Live8 Suite boxed edition' (which gave me the full range of sampled instruments at the time), it was the complete nature of the program that was the biggest attraction. On the other hand the idea of directly recording my band practice and being able to send members practice tracks (with their part removed) is just too damn attractive. Tends to make me a bit nervous about wasting time trying to learn this software, concentrating instead on integrating my new RM16 and the associated multi tracking capabilities into Ableton Live. There seems to be a chronic lack of clear and well placed and presented instructions on the web site pertaining to doing just that. It did, for example, take quite a while and quite some effort by myself and a few helpful people on these forums to even get the demo version of 'Professional' installed and activated on my computer. Mind you it took me years to come to terms with Ableton Live, my current DAW of choice. I keep finding what I can only describe as "holes" in the instructions. I don't like computers and often I feel they don't like me. Like yourself it is the integration of software and hardware that attracts me but it seems so daunting to have to learn a whole new software program. I'm trying to but striking a lot of hurdles in doing so. Studio One is winning me over and is quickly becoming my main DAW of choice now. However look for updates as I am transferring all tracks thus far over to Studio One 3 and will give updates on the new tracking - with pics. Sorry typing is sloppy - I am typing with one hand right now as my others in a cast - had to postpone a tour out west until it gets back to normal) otherwise I would say more. So all my board settings for everything during tracking are still in there for mixing etc. I will have the 24-4-2 board which integrates in perfectly with capture and Studio One. The one cool thing Presonus has over the compitition is how all of their products work together as a total solution. I am thinking of picking up a Studio live 24-4-2 AI and then Studio One will move to being my main DAW. However I really Dig the new version (Version 3).

I have and also use Studio One professional for some projects but mainly for mastering/publishing.
